Majestic Textiles

Location: Global business with sites in NZ and Australia
Services: Multi-site managed IT and Cloud

Since 1972, Kiwi-owned Majestic Textiles Limited has grown from a Glendene-based manufacturing business into a multinational automotive accessories company, with around 130 staff across four sites in New Zealand and Australia and customers across Australasia, North America and Europe.

Majestic Textiles has worked with Fastcom since January 2024, using its managed IT and cloud services to support the business as it continues to grow and evolve.

“We’d had a successful relationship with another IT provider, but as the business developed and expanded, our requirements changed,” says Andrew Cowell, Head of People, Technology & Continuous Improvement at Majestic Textiles. “Data protection, policies, security and certification became increasingly important, particularly as we were looking to meet the requirements of new customers who needed to meet strict criteria.”

For Andrew, choosing Fastcom wasn’t simply about finding another IT provider but more about finding a partner that could grow with the business.

“There are a lot of good IT providers out there, but we wanted a partnership rather than just a provider. We looked at the businesses Fastcom was already supporting and felt there was a really good fit – particularly because they understood complex, multi-site organisations with different departments and requirements.”

Fastcom provides Majestic Textiles with a specialist service desk, regular onsite support in Auckland and expertise across infrastructure, security and cloud. The team works alongside Majestic Textiles’ people to improve systems and processes, as well as supporting staff with onboarding and devices.

“They’ve been really instrumental in our continuous journey towards being more organised and cleaner with our processes and security,” says Andrew. “Having people who understand our business and can come in, work with our team and help us improve things has been really valuable. We’ve recently expanded through acquisitions, bringing new businesses, people and systems into the wider group, and having Fastcom alongside us as we work through that has been really helpful.”

One of the clearest examples of the partnership came during a major project to relocate Majestic Textiles’ Auckland operation from Glendene to a new site in Patiki. The move involved around 60 staff across manufacturing, sales and other functions – all while Andrew was based in Sydney. Fastcom managed much of the IT component of the relocation, including cabling, devices and screens, including working onsite to ensure everything was ready.

“That was probably the biggest standout project for me,” says Andrew. “Knowing that when the team turned up, all the IT stuff was ready to go was fantastic. There were several Fastcom people available to our team when we were troubleshooting, and the whole thing was managed really well. We didn’t lose half a day of business continuity, which is quite rare for a project of that size. When you’re uprooting 60 people and moving manufacturing, sales and everything else, that’s a big deal.”

For Andrew, that’s the real benefit of having Fastcom as a trusted IT partner.

“What I need is someone I can trust to understand what I’m trying to achieve, give me some options and then help us get it done.”

And while Majestic Textiles has an internal technology capability, having trusted specialists available when needed provides an important layer of support.

“My view is to not just look for a provider with technical expertise – a lot of companies can offer that but to look for a true partnership. Find someone who’s willing and able to grow with you. For us, Fastcom is that.”
